Children have the right to be heard and the right to influence issues of importance to them. They are directly affected by decisions made by local leaders in education, environment, child and social care and urban planning, but are often excluded from decision-making. Children’s participation in the creation of their local communities will contribute to the creation of municipalities that reflect their needs.
Through the project “Place to grow: Child-friendly municipalities”, the efforts of local authorities to promote children’s rights and children’s participation in local planning will be strengthened in five municipalities in Macedonia: Vinica, Debar, Gostivar, Veles and Kisela Voda. The project will be implemented by First Children’s Embassy Megjashi and KMOP Skopje.
For this purpose, at the very beginning of the project, on February 21st, the partner organizations organized the first meeting of the Project Steering Committee, where the work plan of the project was adopted, the Advisory Body of the project was formed, the quality assurance plan was reviewed and action steps were set for the upcoming activities in the next 3 months. The project is financed by the European Union, and will last 30 months.
