Implementing the right to children’s participation in decision-making in schools and local communities [Monitoring report]

PUBLISHER:

DESCRIPTION:
This monitoring shows that the right of children to participate in decision-making at the local level is not sufficiently regulated and implemented. The state does not have a proactive approach, and national institutions do not have the capacity to include children in decisions. Although 47% of schools have some mechanisms for participation, this is most often reduced to informal discussions. A positive example is Kavadarci and Shtip, where youth councils exist, but formal consultation mechanisms are generally lacking. Structured policies are needed for the substantive inclusion of children in decision-making processes.
