Consultation with children in the municipality of Veles

Oct 7, 2024

On October 7th, a consultative meeting was held at the European House in Veles, attended by about thirty children from primary and secondary schools in the municipality, as well as the municipal panel with representatives from the municipality and educational institutions. The goal is to improve children’s rights and increase their participation in local planning.

The consultative meeting sparked an energetic discussion where children expressed their thoughts, ideas, and needs in daily life, addressing them to the Municipality of Veles. Aware of both positive and negative phenomena in the environment they live in, they asked the municipality to improve the living environment, resolve the issue of stray dogs, address the problem of street lighting, and many other concerns.

The consultative meetings with children aim to identify key issues in the realization of children’s rights from their perspective and to gather their expectations about what should be done and changed in the local community. Based on the analysis of the needs, a strategic plan will be created to promote children’s rights and their inclusion in local planning.
