European experiences as a guide for child-friendly municipalities.

In the process of developing strategic plans, let us remember the importance of incorporating European best practices and experiences from Greece, Austria, and Germany in shaping strategies for children in the municipalities of Veles, Vinica, Debar, Gostivar, and Kisela Voda.

What have we learned?

  • Community Engagement: Involving all parts of the community, including local authorities, is crucial for successfully meeting the needs of children and youth.
  • Support for Child Participation: Establishing mechanisms that enable children to participate in decision-making processes that affect their rights and needs.
  • Inclusiveness: Creating inclusive environments and activities for children with disabilities to ensure their active participation in everyday activities.
  • Safe and Healthy Environments: Developing safe and accessible pathways and playgrounds, as well as spaces where children feel secure and supported.

These principles form the foundation for sustainable development and inclusivity in communities, marking an essential step toward creating municipalities that prioritize children’s rights.
